From our go-to happy hour sip to our favorite comfort nightcap, we all have our cocktails of choice when we’re partaking in some 21 and up fun. The problem? Most classic cocktails pack as many calories in a single glass as a drive-thru kids' meal. But it gets worse—besides the nutrient alcohol itself, most mixed drinks are chock full of sugar, syrup, and similar ingredients to the ones you’d find on the label of some gummy worms.
Don’t fret, our little mixed drink maniacs—we’re here to shake up your standard alcoholic sip by giving these classics a low-cal spin! Whether you’re a spicy marg maven or a sucker for an Aperol spritz, we’re sharing a low-cal version of four cocktail classics. So round up your drinking buddies and grab a glass—it’s time to go la vida low-cal!
Low-Cal Spicy Margarita
What You’ll Need…
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz agave syrup (or to taste)
- 1/2 jalapeño, sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 cup Lemon Bubbles
- Ice cubes
- Lime and lemon wedges for garnish
What You’ll Do…
- In a shaker, muddle the jalapeño slices with lime juice and agave syrup.
- Add tequila, fresh lemon juice, and ice. Shake well until chilled.
- Strain into a glass filled with ice and top with Lemon Bubbles.
- Garnish with lime and lemon wedges.
Low-Cal Espresso Martini
What You’ll Need…
- 1 oz. Kahlua
- 1 oz. espresso
- 1 tbsp. vanilla almond milk
- ¼ tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon for dusting
- 1 cup Original Bubbles
- Ice cubes
- Coffee beans for garnish
What You’ll Do…
- In a shaker, combine vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur (if using), agave syrup, and ice. Shake vigorously until chilled.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass and top with Original Bubbles.
- Garnish with a few coffee beans for that classy touch.
Low-Cal Moscow Mule
What You’ll Need…
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz ginger syrup (or ginger beer)
- 1 cup Lime Bubbles
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges and fresh mint for garnish
What You’ll Do…
- In a copper mug (or your favorite glass), combine vodka, fresh lime juice, and ginger syrup.
- Fill the mug with ice and top with Lime Bubbles.
- Stir gently and garnish with lime wedges and fresh mint.
Low-Cal Aperol Spritz
What You’ll Need…
- 3 oz Prosecco (or any sparkling wine)
- 2 oz Aperol
- 1 cup Valencia Orange Bubbles
- Ice cubes
- Orange slices for garnish
What You’ll Do…
- Fill a wine glass with ice cubes.
- Pour in the Prosecco, followed by Aperol and soda water.
- Top with Valencia Orange Bubbles.
- Garnish with orange slices.
