With summer coming in hot (pun intended) & with it, a full social calendar filled with BBQ’s, picnics, happy hours, & more, we thought it was just the time to drop a roundup of our favorite light & refreshing summer time sip, Ranch Water! If you’ve never heard of this simple, unassuming cocktail (which was said to have originated in west Texas in the 1960’s), it’s as minimal as they come & a perfect menu item for the newbie mixologist. All that’s required for the OG recipe is sparkling water, fresh lime juice, & tequila, all of which can be adjusted and tailored to your personal taste preferences.
For what it lacks in complexity, this drink makes up for in customizability, which is why this no-frills cocktail is our tried and true favorite for summer time hosting. Ready to dive into our recipe roundup of the best Ranch Water variations? Read on.
Cucumber Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 1 oz Simple syrup
- 2 oz Tequila
- Juice of 1 lime
- JUST Cucumber Bubbles
Sweet Tajin Rim
- 1/4 cup Tajin Seasoning
- 1/4 cup Sugar
What You’ll Do:
For the Sweet Tajin Rim:
- Mix the two together in a shallow bowl
- In a second bowl, add a little bit of water
- Dunk the top of your serving glass in the water and then immediately into the Sweet Tajin blend to create a delicious rim to your drink
For the Cocktail:
- Fill cocktail glass of choice with ice
- Pour in 1 ounce of simple syrup and 2 ounces of tequila
- Squeeze the juice of an entire lime into the glass
- Top with JUST Cucumber Bubbles
Bubble Berry Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 2 oz Blueberry-Infused Tequila* (recipe below)
- ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 4-6 oz JUST HuckleBlueberry
What You’ll Do:
For the Blueberry-Infused Tequila- Add frozen blueberries to a mason jar (about 1/2 cup). Cover the berries with tequila (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup) and seal the jar. You can fill the jar with tequila to within one inch of the lid if you want to make a larger batch.
- Gently shake the closed jar, then let the mixture steep for an hour (or longer, if desired).
- Use a fine mesh strainer to remove the berries. Reserve the liquid and store any leftovers in a sealed mason jar in the refrigerator. Use within a couple of weeks for best flavor and color.
- Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour the blueberry-infused tequila and lime juice over the ice and stir gently to combine.
- Top with JUST HuckleBlueberry and garnish with blueberries and a lime wheel.
POG Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Passion Fruit Juice
- 1 oz Guava Juice
- Splash of Fresh Orange Juice
- JUST Valencia Orange Bubbles
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Orange Zest
What You’ll Do:
- Fill cocktail glass of choice with ice
- Pour each variety of fruit juice in & 2 ounces of tequila
- Top with JUST Valencia Orange Bubbles & a splash of fresh orange juice
- Garnish with fresh orange zest & an orange slice
Spicy Lime Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 4 Jalapeño Slices
- 2 oz Tequila
- Juice of 1 Lime
- JUST Lime Bubbles
Tajin Rim:
- 1/4 cup Tajin Seasoning
- 2 Lime Wedges
What You’ll Do:
- Rim glass of choice with limes & dip into shallow plate of Tajin seasoning
- Add jalapeño slices to glass & muddle.
- Fill cocktail glass with ice
- Pour in 2 ounces of tequila
- Squeeze the juice of an entire lime into the glass
- Top with JUST Lime Bubbles
Wild Watermelon Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 1.5 oz tequila
- 1.5 oz watermelon juice
- 1/4 lime (juiced)
- 1/2 tsp simple syrup
- JUST Watermelon Bubbles
What You’ll Do:
- Combine tequila, watermelon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well
- Rim glass with lime wedge & salt or Tajin.
- Fill glass with ice & pour shaker contents in glass.
- Top with JUST Watermelon Bubbles & garnish with a lime wedge.
Tropi-Coco Twist Ranch Water
What You’ll Need:
- 2 ounces coconut-infused tequila (recipe below)
- 1/2 ounce pineapple juice
- 1/2 ounce lime juice
- JUST Coconut-Mint Bubbles
For the Coconut-Infused Tequila:
- 1/4 cup unrefined coconut oil
- 750 ml bottle of tequila
What You’ll Do (for the Coconut-Infused Tequila):
1. Melt coconut oil in a microwave or a double boiler. Let cool.
2. Add oil and tequila to a large container with a lid. Stir to incorporate.
3. Set in the refrigerator or freezer for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the oil will rise to the top of the container.
4. Using a coffee filter, strain the coconut oil out of the tequila, and funnel the infusion back into the original bottle.
What You’ll Do:
- Salt the rim of glass of choice.
- Add all ingredients with ice.
- Top with JUST Coconut-Mint Bubbles, & stir to incorporate.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
