SPICY MATCHA~RITA
Written by Just Water
Calling all spicy sippers and matcha mavens!
Looking to spice up taco Tuesday? Move over plain Jane margs, there’s a new rita revving up the fiestas. She’s spicy, she’s complex, & she’s about to tango your taste buds like a cast member on dancing with the stars.
Our recipe for Spicy Matcha~Ritas isn’t your run of the mill taco chaser. This vibrant green sip is packed with the one-two punch of cool cucumber and jalapeño heat, all tied together by the earthy magic of matcha & a zesty pop of Lemon Bubbles. Think spa day meets spring break in Cabo (we know, that combo makes as much sense as Pete Davidson’s last six relationships).
So grab your blender, dust off your maracas (optional, but highly encouraged), and get ready to experience a wild rita ride like you’ve never experienced before. Easy to make & deliciously complex flavor, we guarantee this one will be a rita repeat for many taco Tuesdays to come.
What You’ll Need…
- 1 cup cucumber, sliced (about 1 medium cucumber)
- 1 jalepeño, stem and seeds removed
- 1.5 tablespoons matcha powder
- ½ cup lemon juice
- ¼ cup honey (or agave)
- 1 cup tequila (I prefer silver)
- ½ cup orange juice
- Lemon Bubbles to top
- lemon wedge & salt for rimmed glasses
What You’ll Do…
- In a food processor or blender, combine cucumber, jalepeño, matcha powder, lemon juice and honey. Blend until smooth.
- Pour mixture over a strainer into a pitcher. Use a wooden spoon to push the liquid out (you may have to work in batches depending how big your strainer is). Discard the pulp.
- To the pitcher add tequila and orange juice. Stir well to combine.
- Pour the drink to about ¾ into an ice-filled, salt-rimmed glass of choice. Fill the rest of the glass with Lemon Bubbles.
- Garnish with sliced cucumber, lemon zest, lemon wedge, and jalepeño slices.
- Serve & enjoy!
