Ah, donuts. Those magical rings of soft, doughy goodness that make you feel like you sleep-time machined (no, it’s not a word, but just let us have this one) straight to dessert. And while we doughn’t (see what we did there?) want to hate on our plant-based peeps, we have to call out how difficult it is to find a vegan donut that doesn’t taste like styrofoam and cardboard had a baby.

Fear not, animal product free friends! We’re here to save you from another sad attempt at Homer Simpson's main food group: enter the Vegan Sparkling Cinnamon Sugar Donut. She’s sweet, she’s fluffy, she’s basically serving puppies and rainbows with each and every bite.

Get ready to say buh-bye to BLEH vegan donuts, there’s a new brekkie treat thats on a HOLE ‘nother level.

What You’ll Need…

For the Donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose or gluten free flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • scant ¼ cup + 3 tbsp non-dairy milk
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp Original Bubbles
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

What You’ll Do…

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.  Then add in the milk, neutral oil, Original Bubbles, and vanilla extract.  Mix until just combined.
  3. Pour, pipe, or spoon the batter evenly across the 6 donut molds in the pan.  Bake for 15 minutes, then let them sit in the pan for 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.
  4. While the donuts are cooling, mix the cinnamon sugar topping ingredients in a small bowl.  Let the donuts cool fully before rolling them in the topping to avoid clumping.
  5. To coat the donuts, lightly brush each donut with a neutral oil, then cover with the cinnamon sugar topping.
  6. Donut wait–dig right in!
