SHARK WEEK SIP-SPIRATION: JAWESOME DRINKS THAT MAKE A SPLASH
Written by Just Water
We don’t know about you, but when we think of warm, wonderful summertime, a few key things come to mind:
~Sunshine
~Swimming in the nearest body of water (even if it happens to be a kiddie pool in our backyard)
~Sweet, creamy ice cream cones & popsicles, likely dripping down our kiddos faces
~& last, but very much not least, SHARK WEEK!
Equal parts education & entertainment, Shark Week is our go-to when we need a break from the heat and want to indulge in some quality binge watching (did we mention it’s educational? Meaning, we feel ZERO guilt spending some time couch-potato-ing while we learn about the migratory patterns of Mako sharks–which, by the way, can swim up to 40 miles per hour. Being chased by a race car fast ocean monster? New fear unlocked).
If you’re looking to add a 21 and up spin on your Shark Week viewing, you’ve come to the right place! We’re dropping three fun, flavorful, fin-tastic (we had to) shark-themed cocktails (plus one for the guppies) that are certain to level up your watch parties.
Ready to make a splash at happy hour? Read on!
Blood In the Water Bloody Mary
Serves 1
What You’ll Need:
- 8 oz chilled tomato juice
- 1 1⁄2 oz dry gin
- 1⁄4 cup JUST Cucumber Bubbles
- 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 1 dash hot sauce
- 1 pinch paprika
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- Ice
- Celery, for garnish
- Lemon shark garnish (see instructions below)
What You’ll Do:
- In a pint glass, combine ice, tomato juice, gin, JUST Cucumber Bubbles, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Season with paprika, salt and pepper.
- Garnish with celery, lemon and lime.
What You’ll Do For the Lemon Shark Garnish:
First cut a large wedge shape piece off one end of the lemon for the mouth. Then cut about a 1/4 inch slice off the base to use as the fins. Trim this base piece and cut little wedges in the fin and slice a small thin wedge on top of the shark and squeeze it in. Use the trimmed pieces from the fin to insert on the sides of the shark for the side gills. Carve out some eyes with a zester or an exacto knife (or draw some on with a sharpie). Optional: carve a lip with the zester, angling it to use only one edge.
